The 3rd Xiangxi Tourism Development Conference will kick off in Yongshun County from November 7 to 9. And multiple events such as the opening ceremony and the Xiangxi Tourism Industry High-quality Development Promotion Conference will be held in Furong Town.
Furong Town is the core park of Xiangxi UNESCO Global Geopark, a national 4A-level scenic area, a famous historical and cultural town in China, a national nighttime culture and tourism consumption cluster area, one of the first batch of Hunan nighttime consumption cluster demonstration areas, one of the first batch of beautiful towns in Hunan, one of the first batch of characteristic cultural and tourism towns, and a provincial-level tourist resort in Hunan.
The town has a long history of over 2,300 years. Intangible cultural heritage programs such as Maogusi dance, hand-waving dance, Tima songs, and Tujia folk songs are often performed in the Furong Town Scenic Area. The large-scale live-action immersive ethnic customs performance “the Carnival of Bifzivkar” has been selected as a national excellent tourism performance.
In 1986, the movie “Furong Town” starring Liu Xiaoqing and Jiang Wen was filmed here. In 2015, Furong Town was awarded the “National Designated Film and Television Shooting Base”. It is also a popular tourist destination integrating beautiful landscapes, geological wonders, and cultural customs. The Furong Town Great Waterfall is stunning to tourists.
